You Won’t Believe What Bitget and UNICEF Are Doing for 300K Girls

Bitget and UNICEF to train 300K girls in blockchain across 8 nations

Under a three-year agreement, cryptocurrency exchange Bitget has teamed up with UNICEF Luxembourg, a division of the United Nations Children’s Fund, to promote digital competence and blockchain understanding among youth. By joining forces, Bitget becomes part of UNICEF’s Office of Innovation’s Game Changers Coalition.

This endeavor intends to involve approximately 300,000 individuals, such as adolescent girls, parents, guides, and educators, from eight different nations: Armenia, Brazil, Cambodia, India, Kazakhstan, Malaysia, Morocco, and South Africa.

By becoming a part of the Game Changers Coalition, Bitget aligns with the Global Video Game Coalition, Micron Foundation, and Women in Games to collaboratively aim at equipping 1.1 million girls worldwide with technical skills in both tech and blockchain by the year 2027. This joint mission is further solidified by Bitget’s $10 million Blockchain4Her initiative, which focuses on fostering women’s digital competence and economic self-reliance through mentorship, financial aid, and specialized educational materials.

Instead of just focusing on curriculum creation, Bitget intends to link UNICEF with leading blockchain networks and Web3 coders. These individuals could serve as mentors and collaborators, offering a wide range of technical viewpoints for the program.

Gracy Chen, CEO of Bitget, shared with CryptoMoon that their goal is to empower adolescent girls by teaching them STEM subjects. To bridge the gender gap in these areas, Bitget collaborates with UNICEF to devise a flexible method for incorporating blockchain education into educational programs worldwide. By consulting top experts in Web3, they ensure the training remains hands-on, current, and adaptable for learners of all backgrounds.

Worldwide, it’s estimated that adolescent girls and young women in low-income and middle-income countries miss out on approximately $15 billion in potential economic benefits each year because they have less access to the internet and fewer digital skills compared to their male counterparts. Given that 90% of today’s job market requires some level of digital proficiency, the partnership between Bitget and UNICEF is working diligently to address this pressing disparity.

Innovative methods and technology reshape blockchain education

Through this collaboration, Bitget Academy, our educational division, will assist UNICEF in creating their inaugural interactive blockchain learning program. This innovative curriculum integrates both virtual and face-to-face lessons. The main focus is on employing video game development as a teaching tool to introduce the basics of blockchain technology.

Chen explained the rationale behind using video game design:

“Gamification of learning breaks down complex topics to their core. Roughly 3.3 billion people worldwide play games, it’s only natural for us to learn best when our environment is interactive and supportive.”

Instead of just using gamification, advanced technologies such as generative AI are also being utilized to increase accessibility to specialized digital skills. Changpeng Zhao, former CEO of Binance, has launched a new project called Giggle Academy, which aims to provide free and globally accessible K-12 education through courses created by artificial intelligence.
