In a twist of affairs most distressing, two esteemed elders of India found themselves fleeced of no less than Rs 3.2 crore under the nefarious machinations of a counterfeit cryptocurrency platform. Through the villainous Telegram and WhatsApp, these unprincipled tricksters preyed upon the trusting hearts of retired gentlefolk.
Hyderabad’s intrepid constabulary has unveiled a most brazen scam, wherein aged savers were seduced by fraudulent investment prospects via fleeting messages and deceptively elegant websites. One might question the discernment of those who dare embrace digital abominations without the counsel of a younger genius. 😅
The first gentleman, possessing a modest fortune, parted with Rs 2.58 crore (310,000), while the second-a retiring bank gentleman-surrendered Rs 63.15 lakh ($76,000). These calamities, one suspects, stem from overconfidence in the face of modern charlatans and a naiveté about the whims of cryptocurrency. 💼🤫
The Telegram Tribune: A Gauntlet for Gullibility
Behold the first gentleman, a member of an esteemed Telegram group aptly named “AP Helping Hand India.” A rogue named Aman Kumar-masked as a gentleman of financial repute-whispered alluring promises of clandestine trading strategies. 🕵️♂️
Kumar, with much flourish, touted “cryptocurrency arbitrage” as the surest path to unassailable wealth, persuading the gentleman to pay Rs 8,500 in registration fees and download a dubious “Base” wallet from a most suspicious link. One wonders why not consult a fellow of wisdom before entrusting funds to a gentleman of… questionable credentials. 🤔
Indeed, the villains demanded banking details, cloaked in the guise of “maximising returns.” One miscreant, posing as Ajit Doval, a “profit-distribution manager,” further clouded the gentleman’s judgment. How amusingly audacious! 🎭
A Dashboard of Deceit: Millions in Mirage!
The villains, with theatrical pomposity, displayed a falsified dashboard alleging a grand balance of Rs 4.55 crore ($5.48 million). Under such dazzling pretences, the gentleman deposited Rs 2.58 crore, tempted by taxes, fees, and the siren call of fortune! 🏴☠️
When withdrawal proved elusive, he was coerced to part with another Rs 80 lakh ($96,000) to “unblock” his gains. Such Shakespearean folly! Eventually, the gentleman’s suspicions formed, and he sought solace in the Rachakanda police. 🕶️👮♀️

WhatsApp’s Whispering Enchantress: Banker Bewitched
The second gentleman, a retired bank savant, was approached via WhatsApp by a clever impersonator masquerading as a “Dr. Stockbrocker of America.” 🇺🇸 With calculated charm, he conspired to steal Rs 13.56 lakh ($16,300) upon a phony platform, promising princely returns.
Gradually, the villains extracted greater sums under “document fees” and other stratagems, leaving the gentleman with nothing but crumbs and regret. Upon realising this folly, he wisely petitioned the police. 🕊️👮♂️
The courts, with admirable severity, levied charges under the IT Act and relevant statutes. Alas, these villains targeted the retired gentry, who, though wise in years, lacked uncommon acumen in modern gaming. Retirement funds, once safe, lie shattered by these digital brigands. 💔
