One need not lift a finger-merely strolling onto a dubious website with an unpatched iPhone is enough for Coruna to sneak in and make off with digital treasures. Imagine that: your phone, politely hacked while you sip your tea.

- iPhones clinging stubbornly to iOS 17.2.1 or older are still at risk; Apple, in its leisurely manner, only patched the final holes in iOS 17.3, January 2024.
- The toolkit reads your notes and messages for crypto seed phrases or casual phrases like “backup phrase,” giving thieves carte blanche access-passwords are so passé.
- With 18 apps in its sights, users of MetaMask, Phantom, Exodus, Trust Wallet, and Uniswap have reason to fret-or dramatically gesture with their hands.

- GTIG reportedly retrieved the entire toolkit from hundreds of counterfeit financial and crypto websites, including a pretentious imitation of the WEEX exchange.
- A suspected Russian espionage troupe once employed it in summer 2025 to bother Ukrainian iPhone owners via local business websites, as one does in the theatre of cyber-absurdity.
- Later, a China-based gang of financial mischief-makers spread it through scam sites, allowing Google to snatch it and christen it Coruna-because every villain needs a name.
- Activating Lockdown Mode in iPhone settings halts the toolkit’s frolic entirely; Coruna, much like a polite thief caught in the act, simply packs up and leaves.
- Coruna journeyed through a surveillance company, a state-backed Russian group, and Chinese financial scoundrels, hinting at a secondhand marketplace for elite hacking toys.
