CZ’s Shocking Prison Confessions Coming in New Memoir!

CZ’s Memoir Set for Late February, Promises Full Prison Disclosure

Changpeng Zhao, the founder of Binance, has announced his memoir will be released in late February or early March. He says the book will include information he wasn’t able to discuss during his recent appearance at the Davos Forum.

I saw CZ post on X that he’s releasing more information soon – he said his book will be out in four to six weeks, and that it’ll cover everything, so there are no secrets. Seems like he’s confident about being fully transparent.

Self-Published in Two Languages

The 300-page memoir, which contains around 97,000 words, will be released in both English and Chinese by the author. CZ said they chose to self-publish to get the book out quickly.

He mentioned that going through a publisher takes a lot of time, despite the fact that they usually provide valuable help with getting the work distributed.

All proceeds from the book will go to charity. “Not trying to make money from the book,” CZ added.

A frank discussion from the World Economic Forum in Davos covered topics like incarceration, clemency, and the future of freedom. The full interview with Andrew Sorkin is available on CNBC and centers on plans for the future.

On January 8th, CZ announced he’s thinking of calling the Chinese version of Binance “币安人生” (which translates to something like “Binance Life”), but the English name is still being decided and will probably be very different.

CZ, understanding how quickly new trends become tokens in the memecoin world, spoke about the issue beforehand.

Just to be completely upfront, and to avoid any rumors… this isn’t about any new meme coins or projects. However, I do appreciate meme culture and think the term ‘meme’ itself is memorable and impactful.

He clearly said he doesn’t own any of the “Binance Life” memecoin and doesn’t plan to buy any, though he might still decide to change the project’s name right before launch.

From 114,000 Words to Final Edit

Changpeng Zhao (CZ) began working on his memoir in March 2025, completing an initial draft of 114,000 words. He admitted it had taken much longer than anticipated and estimated he still needed to put in three times the effort to revise and rewrite it.

CZ also mentioned the book would cover sensitive topics within the crypto industry. Specifically, it will look into a potential link between the failure of FTX and the collapse of Terra/LUNA in May 2022.

In March 2025, the author explained that while writing this part of the book, he intentionally avoided guessing or spreading unconfirmed information, as he hadn’t found any solid proof to support the rumors.

After months of work, the manuscript is now finalized at around 97,000 words and 300 pages. It required significant condensing to reach this length, but I believe the final version is much more focused and impactful.

Prison Details Included

When a fan asked if his memoir covered his time in prison, CZ simply replied, “Yes, it does.”

In late 2023, Zhao admitted to breaking US rules designed to prevent money laundering and resigned as CEO of Binance. He spent four months in federal prison at Lompoc I and was released in September 2024. Donald Trump later granted him a full pardon in October 2025.

Since leaving his position, CZ hasn’t said much about how Binance is run. He’s been concentrating on charitable work, educational programs, and now, a memoir. This book will share his personal story of creating and leading the world’s biggest cryptocurrency exchange, from the very beginning to the present day.
