In a world where everyone seems to be raising money like it’s going out of style, Lyzi has announced it raised 1.3 million euros (or $1.4 million, if you prefer your numbers in dollars) to expand its platform. Because who doesn’t want to make payments in crypto while wearing pajamas?
The funding round saw participation from angel investors Christopher Grilhault des Fontaines (yes, that’s a real name) and Jean-Luc Bernard, who are apparently very interested in the future of money. Or maybe they just like the sound of their own names. 🤷♂️
Lyzi, built on the Tezos layer-1 blockchain, allows consumers to use cryptocurrency for their retail and e-commerce escapades. Merchants can collect payments in crypto and receive good old fiat directly to their bank accounts. It’s like magic, but with fewer rabbits and more spreadsheets.
After this seed raise, Lyzi is all set to launch on Tezos’ layer-2, Etherlink, which is as compatible with Ethereum Virtual Machine (EVM) as a fish is with a bicycle. 🐟🚲
“Our goal is to make accepting payments in crypto so easy that merchants have to ask themselves, ‘Why wouldn’t I do that?'” said CEO Damien Patureaux, who clearly has a way with words. Or perhaps he just really likes asking questions.
Building on Etherlink is the next phase of Lyzi’s grand plan to expand into more markets around the world. Because why not? The world is their oyster, and they’ve got a very shiny fork! 🦪✨
