Ripple‘s Monica Long, a lady whose job title suggests she runs things while others presumably sip tea, has declared that corporations sitting on piles of idle cash-like a miserly uncle hoarding tinned sardines-will soon embrace crypto with the enthusiasm of a terrier chasing a particularly juicy squirrel.
In a post brimming with the sort of optimism usually reserved for lottery ticket buyers, Long posits that companies are currently sitting on more trapped capital than a subway turnstile during rush hour.
“The opportunity here goes far beyond faster settlement… over $700 billion lounging about on S&P 1500 balance sheets like a sunbathing aristocrat, and more than €1.3 trillion scattered across Europe like loose change in a pensioner’s sofa. Stablecoins, those digital marvels of modern finance, promise real-time liquidity with all the excitement of watching paint dry-but with fewer fumes.”
Long, with the confidence of someone who has never misplaced a wallet, assures us that banks and clearing houses are also jumping aboard the crypto bandwagon, presumably after checking it for loose bolts.
“As crypto exposure becomes as normalized as regretting life choices after a third cocktail, capital markets will follow suit. By 2026, collateral mobility will be all the rage-like flared trousers, but with fewer fashion crimes. Custodian banks and clearing houses will adopt tokenization faster than a gossip columnist adopts scandal.”
And because no tech trend is complete without mentioning AI, Long tosses it into the mix like a chef adding truffle oil to a perfectly good pizza.
“In 2026, blockchain and AI will converge in unholy matrimony, automating financial operations with the precision of a butler who’s had one too many espressos. Stablecoins and smart contracts will allow treasuries to manage liquidity while executives nap, execute margin calls while golfing, and optimize yield while pretending to read quarterly reports.”
