The cryptocurrency community received a stark warning about online security when the official X (formerly Twitter) account for BNB Chain was hacked. Binance, the world’s largest cryptocurrency exchange, confirmed the breach and stated that attackers used the account to share harmful phishing links. Binance CEO, CZ, is advising users to avoid clicking any links recently posted on that account.
How the Attack Happened
Binance reported that hackers took over one of its Chinese accounts and flooded it with posts containing links to fake websites. These sites were designed to steal cryptocurrency by tricking people into connecting their digital wallets using a tool called WalletConnect. Binance warned users not to click on any links from the hacked account, as doing so could result in immediate loss of funds.

CZ Confirms Breach, Urges Caution
Changpeng Zhao, co-founder of Binance, shared a warning with his large following, urging everyone to avoid clicking any links. He emphasized that even accounts that appear legitimate and verified can be hacked.
His quick response helped spread the alert faster across the global crypto community.
Rapid Response From Security Teams
Binance’s security team has alerted X about the issue and asked them to temporarily block the affected account to limit any further harm. They’ve also requested the removal of the fake websites used in the attack.
The teams are looking into how the account was compromised and will share more information as soon as it’s available.
