Crypto’s New Game: Is It Progress? 🤔

They call it “infofi,” this Kaito. An artificial intelligence, or perhaps a carefully constructed illusion of one, poking at the delicate beast that is the crypto marketplace. And as with any probing, a certain…discomfort has arisen.

The data, of course, speaks. Numbers bloom, promising awareness, promising “mindshare,” as if such a thing can be truly measured. Yet, even in the chill of statistics, a tremor of unease remains. Are these genuine voices, or merely echoes manufactured by the algorithm? The question hangs, a stale scent in a room filled with manufactured enthusiasm. 🤨

The Murmurs of Distrust

Messari proclaims an 88% increase in attention for those who participate in Kaito’s game. A dazzling figure, certainly. But what *kind* of attention? The fleeting glance of the easily distracted, or the considered scrutiny of the informed? One suspects the former.

Kaito itself, bloated with self-importance, boasts a 33.31% rise in its own imagined significance. The vanity! It is a sickness that afflicts all who gaze too long into the mirror of public opinion.

But there are those who see the rot beneath the gilded surface. John Vance, a man with the foresight to recognize a crumbling edifice, speaks of a “net negative.” A harsh judgment, perhaps, but one rooted in a profound understanding of human nature. It seems the collective spirit of those early, hopeful days of 2021 has soured, replaced by cynical maneuvering and the desperate scramble for attention. 😔

“Sentiment has shifted…to a cynical, rage-bait-driven platform,” he writes. Alas, it appears we have merely exchanged one form of manipulation for another.

Vance warns us of “pseudo-thought leadership,” the elevation of the loudest voice, regardless of its substance. A familiar tragedy, played out across the ages. And Yurii, a builder – a craftsman of the digital world – reminds us that this is not a new ailment. The seeds of this corruption were sown long ago, in the chaotic bloom of the 2017 ICO frenzy.

“Engagement was gamified from the very beginning,” he observes, with a weary acceptance. “The problem is not new…merely more blatant.”

Even the seasoned veteran, Jules Mossler, draws parallels to the distant past – the marketing fads of the late 2000s. We are doomed, it seems, to repeat our mistakes, endlessly reinventing the wheel of deception. “Very little appreciation for history,” she laments. “So much hubris to call these mechanisms ‘new’…”. 🤦‍♀️

And then, there is ZachXBT, a digital sleuth sniffing out the falsehoods. A simple tweet, but a damning indictment: inflated metrics, a house of cards built on sand.

Thanks for confirming to the community your user metrics are heavily inflated

Now, Kaito attempts correction, tinkering with its algorithms, feigning a commitment to “trust.” It speaks of filtering “AI slop,” as if this were a new discovery, a novel challenge. They adjust, they recalibrate, but can a system built on artifice ever truly be…genuine?

Some, blinded by the allure of novelty, offer praise. They call for more AI, more filtering, more layers of complexity. But the more complex the system, the easier it is to exploit. 🤷‍♂️

The Roadmap to…What?

Amidst the clamor, Kaito unveils its grand roadmap, a promise of innovation, a vision for the future. Yu Hu, the founder, speaks of on-chain integrations, reputation-based leaderboards, and a new fund. It is all very impressive on paper. But words are cheap.

The goal, it is said, is to rival traditional advertising. A noble ambition, perhaps, but one fraught with peril. Can crypto truly offer transparency and trust, or will it simply become another arena for manipulation and deceit?

The numbers, again, are presented. $40 million in revenue. A tidy sum. But is it earned, or merely conjured?

“Crypto is emerging as the solution in the war against AI slop…” Hu proclaims, with a touch of messianic fervor. One wonders if he truly believes his own words.

Kaito walks a precarious tightrope. It is lauded as a revolutionary force, yet condemned as a purveyor of superficiality. Its roadmap holds the promise of redemption, but also the potential for deeper entanglement in the web of deceit. Will it succeed in proving its critics wrong? Or will it simply become another cautionary tale in the annals of crypto history? Time, as always, will tell. But one suspects that the game is already rigged.
