However, the resources and know-how required to use Bitcoin securely continue to be inaccessible for many people.

That’s why we created Trezor Academy.

In December 2023, this charitable program was initiated with a focus on providing on-site Bitcoin education where it’s most beneficial. Known as Trezor Academy, it has since organized over 70 community-led workshops in 28 different nations – ranging from Mexico and Nigeria to Jamaica and Zambia.

It’s evident that when self-custody is communicated using local dialects, endorsed by reliable sources, and linked to individuals’ everyday experiences, its acceptance speeds up – and genuine transformation takes place.

Why We Created Trezor Academy

At Trezor, we’re convinced that Bitcoin holds the potential for financial independence; however, this can only be realized if people learn how to utilize it securely and autonomously. Unfortunately, high-quality Bitcoin education has primarily been confined to online discussion groups, tech-savvy communities, or wealthier nations, thereby excluding a significant number of individuals from gaining this knowledge.

Trezor Academy was born to change that.

We initiated this project with the aim of fostering worldwide Bitcoin usage in a manner that resonates with people most effectively – by connecting with them in their native languages and environments. Our goal since day one has been to equip individuals with the understanding needed to manage their own digital keys, secure their assets, and engage with the Bitcoin network independently. To achieve this, we designed a learning program that goes beyond teaching the basics of Bitcoin; it also covers safe usage of self-custody tools like hardware wallets.
