The mine itself, a treasure trove of $3.1 billion in gold (assuming the metal behaves like a well-mannered asset), sits atop a 16-year lifespan. Yet gold, that fickle lover, now trades at $5,183-7.58% shy of its $5,602 peak. A reminder, perhaps, that even the earth’s bounty demands humility.
With 20% of Montage in their coffers, the Lundins now bask in a $759 million valuation. Their net worth? A modest $18.1 billion. One imagines them sipping tea in a villa, pondering whether to invest in asteroid mining next.
