Right. So, as if the universe wasn’t confusing enough already, something deeply peculiar occurred in the XRP dimension today. A rather substantial quantity of digital whatsits – 73 million XRP, to be precise – decided to engage in a frantic game of inter-wallet shuffle.

All this happened in, oh, only 62 minutes. Sixty-two minutes! Which, when you consider the vastness of space and the impending heat death of the universe, is frankly an absurdly short amount of time to move around $151.3 million worth of anything. Especially digital tokens. 🤷

The On-Chain “Hot Potato” (and nobody wants it)

A highly respected XRP researcher, one Leonidas Hadjiloizou (sounds impressively heroic, doesn’t it?), has suggested, with a distinctly dry wit, that nobody actually wants this massive pile of XRP. A perfectly reasonable assumption, really. Who needs 73 million of anything? Except maybe dust bunnies.

The prevailing theory, painstakingly constructed by people with far too much time on their hands, is that this isn’t some rogue element causing chaos. Oh no. It’s almost certainly a deeply important, meticulously planned, utterly baffling security procedure or, as they put it, “liquidity routing” enacted by a single, enormous entity. Likely an exchange or custodian. Which is just a fancy way of saying “someone very responsible, probably.” 🧐

Currently, XRP is trading at $2.07. Which, given the existential dread induced by the above, is… remarkably stable. Possibly suspiciously so. We’ll leave you to ponder that. Meanwhile, we’re off to make a cup of tea and question the fundamental nature of reality. ☕
